Chapter 9-Deception, revolt and end of Essenes |
| |
1. |
The legacy of the Essenes, the healers still exists in holistic medicine, in conservation and respect for nature, in the Gnostic gospels and artifacts of Qumran.
2. |
The legacy of the Essenes also exists in the monasteries and communities that saved certain knowledge and history from Christian church authorities.
3. |
The legacy of the Essenes exists in our calendar with the year 0 being the year of birth of John the Baptist, while Jesus was born 6 CE.
4. |
But of the Essenes, they are no more. Gone from the world stage- a memory and mystery.
5. |
What we do know is that before the birth of Jesus, there were two major branches of the Essenes in the Levant- the Nazareans and the Ossaeans.
6. |
The headquarters for the Nazarenes was the town of Nazara (city of truth), while the Ossaeans was Qumran.
7. |
At the birth of John bar Zechariah (John the Baptist) for the Ossaeans and Jesus bar Joseph (Jesus Christ) a split in both direction and strategy emerged.
8. |
And it is what happened with the Nazarenes as well as the followers of the Baptist that happened next that ultimately sealed their fate.
9. |
For the Nazarenes under the leadership of Jesus bar Joseph took on not only the might and power of the Sadducees but every priest sect of the ancient world that worshipped the Mother Goddess and still performed human sacrifice and evil.
10. |
Such an attack did not go unchallenged and the consequences of which still shape our world today. For Jesus and the Nazarene Essenes lost the battle. The Sadducees and Pharisees won. They destroyed the memory of the Essenes becoming in turn Christianity and Rabbinical Judaism respectively.
11. |
And today we must face the consequences of the last 2000 years shaped by these momentus events.
