Chapter 2
  Aleander the Great

1.
Rufus (331 BCE) reports a fantastic story, according to which Philip II of Macedon was aware of the fact that Zeus was the actual father of Alexander.

2.
The supreme Greek divinity frequently visited Olympias in the night in the form of a snake.

3.
Philip II found out about this by peeping through the keyhole while his wife had intercourse with Zeus.

4.
His voayerism was punished by causing him to lose the eye with which he watched Zeus's amorous scene with Olympias.

Alexander as God, Plutarch (127 CE)

1.
Alexander then went immediately to the temple of Amen, its location on the high rock outcrop of Aghurmi deeply impressing him.
2.
According to Rufus (331 BCE), Alexander was met by the Siwan high priest who greeted him with the words "Oh, Son of God", which is probably a mispronouncement of their Greek to mean "Oh, my son".
Alexander at Siwan, Plutarch (127 CE)

1.
To the barbarians he carried himself very haughtily, as if he were fully persuaded of his divine birth and parentage; but to the Grecians more moderately, and with less affectation of divinity, except it were once in writing to the Athenians about Samos, when he tells them that he should not himself have bestowed upon them that free and glorious city.
Plutarch (127 CE)
